Here is one of the displays in the transportation area of the 1934 World's Fair of the Natchez & Hamburg RR 0-4-0 "Mississippi". The loco, originally built by H.R. Dunham & Co in 1836, was refurbished for the World Fair display. The orginal had 43" drivers and developed a respectable 150 psi boiler pressure. Its cylinders were 9.5"x16", a far cry from locomtives that would follow. The loco is now a permanent display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Date is approximate. |
