Description:
Southbound Mopac freight near Modoc, IL on what is now UP's Chester sub. Mopac's 6000-series SD40-2s were built to BN specs (with dynamic brakes) for unit coal train pool service. Even more unusual were the Mars lights in the noses of MP 6000-6019, believed to be the only second generation Mopac power so equipped. Date of photo approximate.
