Shown here is Great Northern Railroad engine #5011, a Y-1a (1-C+C-1) electric built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1927, rated at 3,300 horsepower, and sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad for parts in August of 1956.

Description:
Here is page four of a five-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "What's New Under Pennsy Pantographs." It was published originally in the June 1958 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 48. Middle Photo Caption: "Dandied up for streamliner service after World War II, No. 5011 got Electro-Motive snouts. Pennsy was apparently unimpressed, purchased the locomotive for parts only. Shown here is Great Northern engine #5011, a Y-1a (1-C+C-1) electric built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1927, rated at 3,300 horsepower, and sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad for parts in August of 1956.
