MILW 4-6-0 #1198 - Milwaukee Road         
Obviously taken as this once proud locomotive now sits in the dead/scrap line. Originally built in August of 1897 by Burnham, Wms & Company (Baldwin predecessor) as Chicago, Milwaukee & St Paul #845, it was a Vauclain compound 4-6-0 ten wheeler. It didn't stay #845 for long - renumbered in 4/1899 to CMStP #214, renumbered in 11/1905 to CMStP #852, renumbered in 11/1912 to CMStP #4014, simplified & renumbered in 6/1915 to CMStP 2264, renumbered in 7/1938 to CMStP&P #1198. It was scrapped later inMay of 1940. Simplified specs - 63" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 19x26" cylinders, modest engine wt of 132,500 lb and modest tractive effort of 22,794 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo so approximates were used.
