BNSF 9814 is the first of two EMD units on a northbound coal train parked in the BNSF South Seattle yard. The train likely originated from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming, and is bound for coal export plants in British Columbia. Despite being built in 1997 for BNSF, the unit is painted in the colors of predecessor Burlington Northern. The unit was delivered before BNSF had established its own corporate logo and paint scheme, so new engines built as late as 1997, two years after the merger, were still delivered painted in predecessor colors.
