Here is page 39 of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Shown here is the tender for Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1053, a D-8A (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during July of 1883, Pittsburgh Division Special Engine prior to 1893 to 1906, and sold to Eyre Construction in June of 1906 after 23 years of faithful service. Note that it's stenciled in full, "Pennsylvania Rail Road." |
