Today began a four day stretch of train fun with Ethan as we embark on a Fall getaway to the state of Wisconsin. We are traveling to Janesville, WI tonight, but since he has school today, I get to spend most of the day by myself photographing trains. To make it easier for him, however, I would be slowly making my way toward Logansport where we would get together and continue on our way west and north. Right as I got up I noticed on both Facebook and Heritage Units.Com that NS 1071, the Central Railroad of New Jersey Heritage Unit was front and center on todays NS 148. A crew had already been called and put on the train out of Peru so I wasnt sure if I would beat them to Aboite. I got right on the road and noticed a green signal at the west side of Roanoke. I parked on CR 1100N just southwest of Aboite and waiting. Sure enough, no more than a couple minute later I heard "NS 148 clear Roanoke" ring over the radio. I set up in the perfect spot to get a nice shot in the rising sun near the Little River just behind me. A perfect way to start a trip in my opinion. |
