Texas & Pacific D-10s class 4-6-0 389 was on a westbound local running over the New Orleans Public Belt behind AUDUBON PARK in New Orleans with an auxiliary water car, nine box cars and a caboose. The train was on its way from the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD to AVONDALE YARD, where it would pick up more cars. The 389 had been built as a D-10 class locomotive by Alco’s Cooke Works (44504) in October 1907, was rebuilt into a D-10s class loco in July 1916 and was retired in March 1952, after being replaced in local service by new EMD SW8’s 811-818. |
