Texas & Pacific D-10s class 4-6-0 388 was on a westbound local leaving the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD. The train consisted of an auxiliary water car, a tank car, two box cars and a caboose; but it would pick up more cars at AVONDALE YARD, at the west end of the Huey P. Long Bridge. The 388 had been built as a D-10 class locomotive by Alco’s Cooke Works (44503) in October 1907, was rebuilt into a D-10s class loco in October 1919 and was retired in March 1952, after being replaced in local service by new EMD SW8’s 811-818.
