PC West Shore job with an RS32, green transfer cab and a string of tank cars - 2 of 2
Date approximate. Again, this is the Scottsville Rd. crossing, this time looking to the west toward Genesee Junction. The empty Monoco tank cars were pulled earlier that afternoon from the Monoco Oil Company spur in Pittsford. Monoco was one of the largest customers (in terms of car volume) on the WS. The Monoco site was configured for storage and distribution of petroleum products, liquid asphalt and fertilizers. It closed in the '90s and demolition of the site started in 2000 and was completed in 2003. Later it was the subject of various remediation projects. Needless to say, its closure took a big chunk out of the remaining WS freight business.
