Wye Switches. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 3 July 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #8606 and #8613. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company in 1956 and are rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8606 is an APS-24MS, but #8613 is an AS-24M. These two locomotives are pushing a 77-car freight train up the New Portage Branch Line to Gallitzin and points West. The caboose is N-8 #478214. Duncansville's Fifth Street is in the photo's center, while Second Avenue is on the left. |
