On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, an eastbound mixed freight passed through Salem, Ohio with a prison escapee in consist. Prison, in this case, can be defined as a museum. Escapee, in this case, can be defined as Union Pacific #6944, a DDA40X! Eastbound mixed freight train 34N held a part in the honor of moving this special locomotive from the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri to Altoona, Pennsylvania for cosmetic restoration. At 10:41am, eastbound mixed freight 34N, led by NS #6704 (SD60), NS #8793 (C40-9), BNSF #7496 (ES44DC), (Ex- UP) NS #6514 (SD60), NS #9353 (C40-9W), and MOTX/UP #6944 (DDA40X) passed milepost 70 on Norfolk Southerns Fort Wayne Line in Salem, Ohio. The DDA40X would later be put on the following days 10A to be taken to Juniata Locomotive Shop in Altoona.
