M&NA GP40 4003
Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad GP40 4003 at Cotter, Arkansas on an unknown day in December 2000, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This depot was built in 1906 by the Saint Louis Iron Mountain & Southern, became a Missouri Pacific Railroad depot upon merger in 1917, was briefly a Union Pacific Railroad depot between 1982 and 1992, and then became a M&NA facility. Between 1916 and 1950 this depot had a second floor for the chief dispatcher and trick dispatchers as well as the car distributor. The early plan had been for a full second floor, but only the half above the bay window was completed. There was also a high water mark on the depot, roughly four feet up from the ground. To the right about a quarter mile is the White River which would periodically flood, putting the yard under water.
