| Here is the fifth of nine successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here is the deck of a coast-to-coast tender that's coupled to an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotive. Note the "Doghouse" and the trainphone apparatus. Also notable is that there's no coal in the bunker, so there's no fire in the locomotive's firebox . . . alas. |
