Union Pacific's M-NYRO departs Provo after picking up a long cut of loaded coal cars, gons loaded with old railroad ties, scrap iron, along with other general freight. A little history on 7337; it was originally built by General Electric in August 1996 as UP 7011. Number 7168 was built by GE in May 1999. Those flags along side 7337 and train are part of UTA's ongoing ''Frontrunner Project'', scheduled to be completed in 2013. The place where this photographer is standing is where Union Pacific's original Provo Subdivision once stood. It was ripped out in the summer of 2008. UP trains in and out of Provo now use the former D&RGW Mainline. |
