Jacob Nelson General What is/was a rail expansion joint? 3/21/2010 5:28:56 PM
The Slidebroker image by John Hill General Rails want to creep longitudinally due to seasonal temperature changes. Where the rails meet at a movable bridge, an open gap with a very close fit is always required. So they put those sliding joints near the edge of the bridge so the rails can move longitudinally without changing the location or size of the rail gaps. 3/21/2010 9:18:29 PM
