Description: |
Winter. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 03 January 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9838, #9844-B, and #9834. All are EFP-15's built by EMD in 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. Bringing-up the rear are "pushers" #8667, #8666, and #8669. Visible on the left are a telephone box and a venerable black water tower, the last sign of the "Age of Steam" in this part of town. |

PRR EFP-15 leaves Union Station with the Penn Texas |
Description: |
PRR had 42 of these dual purpose FP-7s. Two A-B-A sets (but not these of course) were painted Tuscan red with stripes. If my notes are correct the 9845 had just been put into service having been delivered between April and August of 1952. |
