Still wearing its white sidewalls, this sharp looking 4-6-0 ten wheeler takes a turn at heading up a freight train near Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. The classy loco was built by the Montreal Locomoitve Works in 1913 originally as Canadian Northern #1133. After the consolidation of railroads, the loco was renumbered CN 1133 in 1919. After nearly 43 years of dedicated service, it was sent to the scrapper's torch in March of 1957. Original specs - class G-16-1, 57" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 20x24" cylinders, engine weight of 154,000 lb and tractive effort of 25,768 lb. This photo is by L. A. Stuckey. |
