Here is duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #297, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an H-8B during January of 1911, rebuilt as an H-8SB in July of 1919, later rebuilt as an H-9S, and retired in February of 1960 after 49 years' service. Produced and distributed by Marlo Industries of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. ("LouisFols"; #2 of 16) |

Here is a photo taken by Mr. Savas Stavropoulos. It was published originally in the April 1960 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 24. Photo Caption: "Pennsy Consolidation No. 297, Class H-9, switching at Shamokin, Pa., in 1957." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #297 is an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an H-8B during January of 1911, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-8SB in July of 1919, later rebuilt as an H-9S, and retired in February of 1960 after 49 years of faithful service. The number of the N-6 cabin car is not recorded. |
