Title:
PRR 8731, BS-24M, 1955
Description:
PFJ. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred R. Kern that was taken at Frankford Junction near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 14 August 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8731, a BS-24M transfer locomotive built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in December of 1952 and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of service. In this context, it looks like it could be pushing PRR N-5 cabin car #477024!

Title:
PRR 8731, BS-24M, 1958
Description:
Here is a photo by J.S. Rice that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during June of 1958. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8731, a BS-24M transfer locomotive built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in December of 1952 and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. It looks to me like it's shifting a retired steam locomotive that will soon be dispatched to the recycling center. ("JpsPcc6992" A; #4 of 6)
