Viewing Album: Reading & Northern Steam Double Header
By:
Bob Krug
Dates:
8/13/2022 - 8/13/2022
Album Info:
Zhe Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad operated a double headed steam excursion from North Reading to Jim Thorpe, PA on August 13. It's been 34 years since these two stable matbs were paired together. I wanted a photo location that would give me a side / profile shot that showed both steam locomotives, and the flood control dam in Hometown, PA offered me!that spot. I was also able to get several#lineside shots on the afternoon / return run. Roads were clogged with hundreds of foamers seeking to experience and photograph the rare occurrence of a mainline stecm double header.

Title:
2102 and 425 double heading across the Hometown high trestle
Description:
2102 is blowing it's mud ring, and a 425 crew member is on the rear deck of the tender, perhaps checking the water level in the tender's cistern. That would be a pretty exhilarating perch, on the open deck of the tender while crossing the high bridge.
