Album Info:My return to Warminster and Hatboro stations after last photographing Conrail operations in 1976 showed only minor changes to Septa's former RDG division commuter stations. Other than the removal of a freight area on the platform of Hatboro station, little changed at Hatboro. For Warminster, Septa had added a walkway across the tracks and added signals for traffic that passed north of Warminster. In May, 2016, Willow Grove station remains part of the original RDG Warminster line, and other than platform improvements appears little changed. Note: Each image's photo date was added within each Description field. In order to present an organized historical comparison within the album, many Photo Date fields were listed as the recent Warminster and Hatboro date of 8/25/14.

The Reading purchased 100 MU's in 1929 and 1930 for suburban Philadelphia commuter service. Warminster commuter station
Title:  Warminster commuter station
Description:  Warminster station was built prior to Conrail and has survived largely unchanged from 1976 to 2014. In July 29, 1974, Warminster station was opened as part of an extension of the former Reading Company Hatboro to Reading Terminal line. Conrail assumed operations from the RDG on April 1, 1976, and provided contracted service to Septa using former RDG Harlan & Hollingsworth MU's(built 1931) and Silverliners (Budd Company II's and GE, Avco IV's). The MU's provided commuter service to Philadelphia until 1983, when Septa assumed full operations. The surviving Silverliner IV's remain in service on the Warminster Line.

Title:  Warminster commuter station
Description:  Warminster commuter station was opened as part of an extension of the former Reading Company Hatboro to Philadelphia line on July 29, 1974. The still new station was in regular operation as part of Conrail contracted operations for Septa in November, 1976. Low light and an Instamatic photo led to the poor quality imsge.

Reading Company MU's rest on Sunday for the Monday rush
Title:  Reading Company MU's rest on Sunday for the Monday rush
Description:  RDG MU's wait on Sunday for the commuter runs to begin Monday morning from Warminster Station to Reading Terminal in November, 1976. With no operations on Sunday, my friend took my picture with his Instamatic demonstrating one of the catenary poles used by the Conrail-contracted crews. After the photograph, we respectively returned the pole. In today's security, of course, this youthful moment would not be repeated! No disrespect to railroad property was intended.
